Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past month, you would know that Tate Britain is currently home to one of its most popular exhibitions in history. Showcasing an extensive collection of David Hockney’s most famous works, the exhibition has already broken pre-sales records and is likely to continue being a huge hit over the next few weeks.

If you haven’t already made it down to the Pimlico gallery, we highly recommend it. A retrospective of one of Britain’s most popular and influential living artists, the exhibition includes a selection of over 100 of Hockney’s works. The show is arranged chronologically and unfolds like a diary of his life, spanning from early works as an art student to recent landscape paintings drawn using an iPad. It celebrates his achievements in painting, drawing, print, photography and video over the last six decades.
Hockney is now approaching his 80th birthday, yet his artistic style continues to change. This is most evident in his enthusiasm to embrace new technologies such as alternative digital media and the exhibition ends with a time-lapse of these digital artworks being drawn using just an iPad.
The current exhibition showcases the roots of how each of these different directions came together, and it really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see.
